Message No. 400Message:
The original 'Official' patch for the 90th BG was approved 9/22/1942 and was the Azure colored shield with a pterdactyle and the motto IMPAVIDE-Undauntedly.
But then it was changed with The Jolly Rogers smiling & crossed bombs after Lt. Col. Art Rogers became commander on 7/11/1943. The motto they came up with "THE BEST DAMN HEAVY BOMB GROUP IN THE WORLD"
As with the tail colors, the patch was so colored for the different bomb squadrons 400-Black, 321-Green, 320-Red, 319-Blue.
The A-20 plane Little Chief was assigned to the 90th BG and had the Jolly Rogers tail marking and nose art but the group is known for the B24 Liberators.
