90th Bomb Group Message Board
Message No. 1177Message:
The 3rd Bomb Group was also known as the 3rd Attack Group, also known as "the Grim Reapers"
One of the units was the 90th Bomb Squadron, which was composes of medium bombers, the B-25 Mitchells. In the New Guinea Theatre of operation, the airplanes were converted to strafer aircraft, with as many as 14 50 caliber machine guns mounted in forward firing positions.
The 3rd Attack Group has a website, and monthly reports from 1942 in Australia, up until March 31, 1944 in New Guinea. These are very poor copies, but there is no report for April 1944 when Sgt Boucher was KIA.
