Requesting any information on Richard S Cook
I am looking for any information on my father, Richard S Cook. I currently have limited information. His service records were destroyed in the fire at the National Archives in St Louis, Missouri.
What I do know:
- Flew a B-24 Liberator in the Pacific.
- Flew with the same crew and plane during his entire duty.
- I have several of my father’s metals, which includes a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. I remember him telling me he was awarded several Bronze Stars but only received one medal.
- At the end of the war his plane was destroyed in a typhoon. Since he could not fly back to the US, he was assigned (in Japan) to setup housing for US officials and military officers.
I am interested in any information about Richard S Cook, his plane, crew, and assigned air bases.
Thank you,
Richard Cook (Son)

Re: Requesting any information on Richard S Cook
I have checked a post war roster that I have and crew lists and there is no Richard S Cook listed as having served with the 90th Bomb Group. The only Richard Cook was middle initial B and he was a gunner.

Thank you, Bob.
Do you know of any other bombardment groups assigned in the Pacific that I could check? Also, any contact information would be helpful.
Thank you again,
Richard Cook

I CHECKED THE 380TH and did not find anything. Others in the 5th Air Force with 24s are the 22nd BG, 43rd BG.
