I'll pass that on to the research team. Be assured that any remains will be left intact and in a peaceful setting. We class these types of finds as a military war grave and will be the respect deserved.
There is a thought that the aircraft may have exploded.
If so it would be feasible if the aircraft was carrying a bomb load out of Iron Range.
Though I was under the impression that that B24's staged through Port Moresby (Jackson's Field) on the way up to refuel and load ordnance.
Will keep yu iformed, I live not too far from Iron Range, to the south near Mareeba. Let us know if you want any help with the memorial there at any time.
