There are so many different possibilities about the location and identity of this plane.

Cape York is littered with many WW2 memories and history that is sadly forever lost.

This plane could be a B24 Liberator which was named PUNJAB
Serial Number 41-11902. This bomber left Iron Range on the 16th November 1942 on a raid to Rabaul. Bomber was piloted by the Commanding Officer of the 320th Squadron Major Raymond S MORSE. Also on board the plane was the Group Commander, Colonel Arthur MEEHAN.

As far as I know this plane has not been recovered. If anyone knows any different, please advise.

On the same date another bomber (B24) crashed during take off at Iron Range.

Hopefully who ever is doing the recovery will investigate with detail in locating the "who, what, when and where" so all will know its identity

May they rest in peace and hope the area will not be tampered.
