Uncle Denver F Hammons

Post by rclesueur » 17 Apr 2023 1501

Attached are pictures that were in an envelope that I inherited. All but one pic concern my uncle Denver F Hammons, a tail gunner. I don't know his squadron number or his plane name or crew members. If you can I would like to get that information. Uncle Denver's plane was shot down and crashed into the ocean off the coast of Borneo. All crew were killed. The picture of the crew is Uncle Denver's crew. His plane was hit be a Japanese aerial burst bomb.

Last but not least, information on the 90th can be difficult to find at times but in this case there is a book on the mission which your uncle was lost on. I think I found my copy on ebay. The book is part of the Zebra World at War series titled THE DEADLY SKIES by Lawrence Cortesi, Zebra Books, Kensington Publishing Corp. 1982 ISBN 0-8217-1132-6
