My uncle was Ssgt Thomas C. Sippel from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, some records show him as Sipple. He flew over to the Iron Range with the first group. The trip over he was with Capt Enloe's crew as a radio gunner. Once there he flew with Maj. Faulkner's crew as a radio gunner. Then after Faulkner was transfered he flew with various crews as replacement. He could return home with his crew because he was hospitalized for a while and lost ouit on flight points. So he was there longer than some. His cousin 2Lt. Bill Sippel was killed on the Nov 16th 1942 400 BS take off. Tommy witnessed the crash. Although they were not to hang around each other because of rank, they were very close and did so.
