90th Bomb Group Message Board
Message No. 305Message:
I'm trying to get some more information on my grandfather's time with the 90th Bomb Group. His name was Bill Thomas (from Kansas), and he was a radio gunner, I think on the Miss Kiwanis (that's the only plane mentioned in his diary); his first mission was on 12-20-45. Also according to his diary, his plane was shot down over China on 5-19-45, but the entire crew (according to his diary, Dietz, Barnes, Huttig, Froehling, Jarvis, Hanrahan, Finley, Simpson, Umbright(?), and Eckrich(?)) was rescued and smuggled out from behind the lines by Chinese guerillas.
Any information on him or the men he served with would be greatly appreciated.
